After being destroyed by a fire several years ago, the Fire Island Pines Pavilion will reopen in time for summer. GayCities reports:
We had a moment to kiki with one of the folks working on getting Fire Island Pines ready for summer 2013. We got a lot of good dish from her, some of which we can’t share yet because it hasn’t been finalized. But we can reveal that the Pavilion, destroyed by fire in 2011, is ready to reopen in time for Memorial Day weekend. (The Blue Whale and Canteen will be opening even earlier, on April 19.) New York super-promoter Tony Fornabio (XL Nightclub) has been brought in as director of programming, and his goal is to bring back some of the classic sounds that made the Pavilion legendary.
